Having worked for nearly 20 years in low-carbon energy, Casey Cole has in-depth experience of making sustainability work in practice: technically, commercially and legally.
Casey co-founded Guru Systems in 2012 to improve the efficiency and financial performance of heat networks using Internet of Things technology. He and the rest of the Guru team are passionate champions of the sector, searching out the barriers to progress and overcoming them with cutting-edge technology that’s easy to use.
Alongside his work at Guru Systems, in 2015 Casey was invited to chair the board of Heat Trust, the stakeholder-led customer protection scheme for the growing heat network sector.
Nicky joined Guru in 2019 having previously worked in the Heat Networks Policy Team at BEIS, and before that, the Heat Networks Delivery Unit at DECC where she led the design of the scheme and administered funding rounds.
During her time at BEIS, Nicky was seconded to the Competition and Markets Authority, providing sector expertise to the team of economists and lawyers, shaping the findings of the Heat Networks Market Study.
Prior to her time at DECC and BEIS, Nicky worked at the Combined Heat and Power Association (now the Association for Decentralised Energy) where she was active in the initiation of the ADE/CIBSE Code of Practice and the Heat Customer Protection Scheme, which later became Heat Trust.
Nic joined Guru Systems in January 2018. He has a passion for improving the sustainability of the urban spaces where we live. In 2016, founded imby (In My Back Yard), a gardening app that helps people bring nature back into their cities.
Prior to imby, Nic was Chief Operating Officer energy management start-up, Energy Deck, having joined from CBRE, where he was a Senior Energy and Sustainability Consultant providing carbon and energy services to corporates such as Sainsbury’s and Nomura Bank. Nic has also worked as the Energy, Carbon and Sustainable Procurement Manager at Westminster City Council.
He takes pride in Guru’s work which uses data effectively to develop more efficient services, reduce costs and improve people’s lives.
Siân joined Guru Systems in January 2020 with more than fifteen years’ experience as a CFO/Financial Director, across a variety of sectors including manufacturing, engineering, energy and infrastructure.
Most recently she developed the strategic business plan, budget and project investment portfolio for InfraCo Africa, an organisation seeking to alleviate poverty by mobilising investment into sub-Saharan infrastructure projects. Prior to that Siân worked for a number of large multinational companies including Balfour Beatty Rail, Tyco and Recall (now Iron Mountain).
Siân has a track record of embedding robust financial governance across organisations to protect cash flow and drive profitability.
In her spare time, she has a passion for wine and has recently been awarded the WSET level 3 award in wines.
