Summary
Following the recent changes to the Heat Network (Metering & Billing) Regulations, an estimated 84,000 homes on existing heat networks are required to begin billing customers transparently and based on actual consumption.
To do this, properties will need to be retrofitted with metering devices as well as a system to capture data from these metering devices and bill customers based on that data.
The updated regulations include a revised version of the cost-effectiveness assessment tool which can be used to support heat suppliers to assess whether it is cost-effective to install metering devices.
