London-based Guru Systems has beaten hundreds of companies across the UK to come runner up in the Guardian Sustainable Business Awards’ startup of the year category.
The company was founded in 2012 to address inefficiency in the onsite energy sector and now supplies its technology to more than 100 heating, cooling and electricity networks across the UK, benefiting thousands of residents and landlords.
Its monitoring and pay-as you-go technology allows residents to see exactly how much energy they have used and landlords to calculate how much to charge for heat produced on communal heating systems.
It is thanks to this technology that Guru Systems was nominated for the prestigious national newspaper award that saw it scoop runner up at a glittering ceremony at The Crystal in London on May 26, 2016.
Casey Cole, CEO of Guru Systems, said:
After just four years in business, it is a great pleasure to be able to have our name up in lights next to some of the biggest companies in the world.
The Guardian Sustainable Business Awards celebrate early stage companies with sustainability at their heart and an idea with the potential to scale up.
At Guru Systems we are constantly looking for ways to make our clients’ buildings more energy efficient, in turn reducing the cost of energy for residents.
This award is recognition of that hard work and it is thanks to the passion and dedication of our staff that we continue to drive for innovation and are able to make a difference to the lives of thousands of people across the UK.
This latest award win follows a number of accolades achieved by the firm, including the Innovation Award at the Association of Decentralised Energy (ADE) Awards 2016, Most Innovative New Product of the Year at the Housing Innovation Awards 2015 and a shortlist in the District Heating Project of the Year at the H&V News Awards 2016.
