Guru Systems picked up the award for product innovation at this year’s CIBSE Building Performance Awards.
Its Guru Pinpoint technology, a web-based platform that uses powerful machine learning algorithms to diagnose inefficiencies on heat networks, was praised as a “game changer” by judges on the night.
The CIBSE Building Performance Awards recognise the people, products and projects that demonstrate engineering excellence in the built environment.
The awards focus on actual, measured performance, not design intent or performance specifications.
Guru Pinpoint was launched in April 2016 to leading industry figures after a year-long project with the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC).
Guru Pinpoint provides vital performance and operational data to designers and operators of heat networks.
Piloted on four projects across the UK, it is now used on more than 70 networks to ensure schemes live up to design standards.
Thanks to Guru Pinpoint and onsite interventions, on one of the pilot sites Guru Systems was able to determine the root cause of inefficiency on the network and deliver a 68% reduction in heat network losses.
Casey Cole, CEO of Guru Systems, said:
CIBSE is incredibly well respected across the sector and we are honoured to have our hard work recognised by the judges.
It’s amazing to have work like ours, that comes from grant funding and sheer determination, to be highlighted alongside multi-million pound projects and global engineering firms.
The development of Guru Pinpoint was supported by: FairHeat, Carbon Alternatives, DECC, KTN, the ODI, Octavia Housing, Network Homes and The Guinness Partnership.
