Industry-first product enables remote control and continuous commissioning of heat networks

Altecnic, the UK’s leading supplier of hydronic solutions and part of the Caleffi Group, has joined up with Guru Systems to launch an industry-first intelligent heating network product.

The Guru Integrate SATK32 is the first-of-its-kind to market and enables remote commissioning for set up, network interrogation, and fault diagnosis, as well as continuous commissioning when in operation, reducing the need for engineers to visit the site and maximising heating efficiency.

Combining Altecnic’s next-generation heat interface unit, the SATK32 Indirect eHIU, with Guru System’s Hub 3 Core hardware, the new product captures detailed data for both metering and billing purposes as well as enables advanced heat network performance management.

Faster and more reliable commissioning is possible through remote configuration, reducing the amount of time and resources required on-site, and making it perfect, for example, for developers of new-build and retrofit properties.

Continuous remote commissioning reduces the need for engineers to visit the site for remedial work and reduces energy usage, environmental impact, and operating costs through network efficiency. Network efficiency drift can be easily seen and addressed remotely.

Over time, the Guru Integrate SATK32 supports the decarbonisation of networks by allowing operators to reduce heat network temperature and adjust the HIU parameters accordingly.

Gary Perry, Managing Director at Altecnic said:

Here at Altecnic, we are strongly committed to continually improving how heat networks are commissioned and run to reach the Government’s 2050 decarbonisation target, a goal that Guru Systems is also highly focused on achieving.

We have worked with Guru Systems several times over the years and now we’ve joined up to deliver this industry-first innovative new product, combining two leading-edge products to deliver the best in heat network efficiency, cost-saving and reducing environmental impact. The benefits to developers, landlords and end users that this intelligent heat interface unit brings are game-changing.

Casey Cole, CEO at Guru Systems said:

Even where networks are well-designed and properly commissioned, performance can degrade over time. Our real-world heat networks data shows that the cost of heat and carbon emissions can more than double within three years if action is not taken.

Delivering both remote commissioning before site handover and continuous commissioning in operation is a huge step forward for decarbonisation of heat networks, and could not have been achieved by either company working alone. We are delighted to be working with Altecnic on such a major leap forward for the industry.
